I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The culmination of my experiences on earth has made me know that God lives. He is our Heavenly Father, and he loves our good parts and bad parts and the parts that have had a bad day. He knows us and sent us to this earth to learn to choose for ourselves. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and that God’s plan for us be thwarted without him. Because of Him, we can repent and receive forgiveness. Because of Him, we will be resurrected. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. From the very beginning of the book, it is evident that it testifies of Jesus Christ. It makes me think Lehi was a rabble-rouser and a disruptor. What was his disruption? Teaching of Jesus Christ. I am thankful he listened to the Spirit and moved his family to the other side of the world. I love 3 Nephi—the whole book. The Nephites loved Jesus Christ and didn’t want him to leave. I know that Jesus Christ came to the Americas.
There are many people out in the world who are upset by the truths of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I get it. I have bad days too, but at the end of the day, I know there is no possible way Joseph Smith wrote the Book of Mormon and that it was translated through the power of God. But even if he did, what harm has the Book of Mormon ever done? It is beautiful. The stories are edifying. The entire book testifies of Jesus Christ. Even if he wrote it himself, he wrote a book that testifies of the Savior in a very thorough way. I know that he didn’t write it and that it comes from God.
Everything I believe boils down to knowing that God loves us and has a plan for us, that he sent the Savior to pave the way to overcome sin and death, and that His work and glory is for us to return to Him. That is the reason why I stay. I know it is true and it makes me live a happier and more loving life.
